HSC Musicians Perform at Manhattan Jazz and Concert Band Festival

On April 20 and 21, 2013, HSC students were invited to perform at the Manhattan Jazz and Concert Band Festival in New York City.  The residency included performances on some of the city’s top stages and clinics with renowned artists.

With the New York City skyline in the background, Mr. Gaumond led the Jazz Ensemble in a sophisticated and elegant performance in the Allen Room of the Lincoln Center on Saturday, April 20. The next day, the Wind Symphony played with confidence, assurance and mature musicality in Avery Fisher Hall.

“Our students gave stirring and inspired performances,” said Dr. Gregory Burton, HSC Director of Arts.

The HSC groups received very positive feedback and are currently reviewing their ‘post-residency package’ with adjudications and feedback to help build the music program at HSC.

Dr. Burton believes this honour will be a “life-long, memorable experience” for the students and staff involved.
