Where Learning Happens
Children at all ages learn best when they are safe, nurtured and inspired. When they get up everyday with the
knowledge that are supported and cared for, learning comes naturally.
Children in Grades JK-Grade 4 love to learn – but they call it fun! During this magical time in a young child’s
life they don’t just take in information, they wonder, explore and discover. Our students develop independence
and are challenged to take on leadership roles and work in sound partnership groups according to their ages
and stages.
The Junior School mission is to ensure our students graduate to Middle School and then onto Senior School
with a passion for learning. This, more than anything, helps them develop their academic and personal
strengths and prepares them for life long learning.
Interactive Children’s Learning Centre
Inquiry and curiosity are alive in the Swap Centre. From Montessori and JK to Grade 4 it is filled with students
discovering the many whys of nature. This unique facility inspires each student to develop his/her research
skills and to respect nature. This is a classroom for the curious and the inquisitive!
What Makes Us Exceptional
- The HSC Junior School offers both full and half-day programs
in Junior Kindergarten.
- After-school care is available for full-day students from JK to
Grade 4 until 5:00 p.m.
- All students in Grades 1-4 participate in our co-curricular
after school activities that support a broad range of abilities
and interests.
- Our Grade 4s learn the value of leadership through our Peer
Mentoring Program, Reading and Lunch Buddy Programs.
- Beginning in JK, we offer enriched French classes, music, art,
physical education and computer technology. This enriched
learning is supported through facilities and resources such as
a dedicated Elementary Library, gymnasium, recess areas and
athletic fields, transportation services which help facilitate
learning outside of the classroom and computers connected to
the HSC network and the Internet in each classroom.
