An Authentic Experience
Dr. Maria Montessori recognized that “the most important period of life’s learning is not the age of university
studies, but the first one, the period from birth to age six.”
Our Montessori School is CCAM accredited, upholding the highest standards of an authentic Montessori
education. Our classroom teachers at HSC hold recognized Montessori teaching certificates from accredited
training programs and provide the dynamic link between the prepared environment and the children.
Their primary role is to direct the natural curiosity and joy in each child and to provide a program that will
meet the individual needs of each one. This is achieved by the keen observation, knowledge of different
learning styles, guidance and empathy, which comes from training and experience.
The HSC Montessori School is an integral part of the HSC community, which affords our students opportunities
to continue on an educational path that supports the Montessori principles.
What Makes Us Exceptional
- We have offered an established Montessori program for over
40 years. As Montessori education enters its 2nd century, our
program connects current educational research with proven
Montessori practices.
- The HSC Montessori School offers three and four year olds either
a morning or afternoon program with the choice of joining our
extended program for the other part of the day.
- Five year olds enter a full-day program designed to help them
consolidate earlier concepts and skills with further challenges
being introduced.
- The opportunity to continue on in the Montessori Elementary
program is a natural progression for the 6-9 year olds.
- After-school care is available for full-day Montessori students
until 5:00 p.m.
- All students 6-9 years of age participate in our co-curricular
after school activities that support a broad range of abilities
and interests.
- We offer enriched French classes, music, art, physical
education and computer technology. This enriched learning is
supported through facilities and resources such as a dedicated
Elementary Library, gymnasium, recess areas and athletic fields,
transportation services which help facilitate learning outside of
the classroom and computers connected to the HSC network
and the Internet in each classroom.
