Hillfield School Old Boys’ Reunion 1901-1962
An Evening of Camaraderie, Reconnection and Celebration
On a warm evening in June, a fabulous turnout was on hand at the Tamahaac Club for the Hillfield School Old Boys’ Reunion. Wally Jacques '48 was the mastermind behind the event with the help of Don Mann '49 and Barry Sanderson '63. The event targetted those many Old Boys who attended the original Hillfield School on Main Street, and who would come together to share in memories of that place and those times.
The evening began with a cocktail reception hosted by Headmaster, Dr. Tom Matthews, followed by a welcome by Wally Jacques '48. Kerr Gibson '41 amazed the crowd as he recited Grace in long form Latin. A resounding version of the school hymn, Praise My Soul, was sung by all. Bill Dalley '71 provided the Toast to the Queen and Memories of the Old Boys.
Don Mann '49 asked several of the Old Boys what prompted them to attend the event? Invariably, the answer was that each one had vivid and happy memories of the old school, and were looking forward to sharing those memories with their fellow classmates. It was a true celebration of camaraderie, reconnection and celebration.
