HSC Board of Governors reluctantly accepts the resignation of much-loved Headmaster, Dr. Tom Matthews effective June 30, 2010.
Below please find a letter from Dr. Jennifer Everson, Chair of the Board of Governors in response to Dr. Tom Matthews recent resignation announcement.
Dr. Tom Matthews, our Headmaster for the past seven years, has advised me that he will be resigning from his position with us at the end of the current academic year in June 2010.
Building on his dedicated and successful leadership at HSC, Tom will be accepting a new challenge as Headmaster of St. George's School in Vancouver, British Columbia. As a member of the Board of Governors, and as a parent, I have had the distinct privilege of working closely with Tom for over seven years; we are all fortunate to have benefited from a sound, collaborative and visionary direction during his time at Hillfield Strathallan College. HSC Remembers

HSC's Remembrance Day Service brought together students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends of the College in a moving ceremony honouring Canada’s war dead, including the College’s 47 Old Boys who died in the two world wars, our veterans and soldiers actively serving around the world.
The service was punctuated by a number of wonderful musical performances from the Senior School Choir and Band. As he has done for six decades, Mr. Geoffrey Steel read aloud the names of the Fallen.
Participating in the Wreath Laying Ceremony were Mr. Leslie William Kitson, a Canadian Air Force Veteran, Mrs. Margaret Morison ’47, Mr. Ron Bremner ’67, Head Girl, Mina Kazemi and Head Boy, Haydon Lutz. Readings and Presentation of the Wreaths were offered by Board Chair, Dr. Jennifer Everson and Alumni Association President, Liane Ormond ’78, as well as current HSC students Hannah Wood and Ryan Jackson.
In his address, Dr. Matthews highlighted the role played by the College’s alumni in the two world wars, and he concluded that we have a lesson to learn from the Fallen. Just as they answered the call of King and country, we also have a responsibility to make the most of our talents and to do whatever we can to help make the world a better place.
