Locks of Love
During the March Break, HSC student Avery Webber received a dramatic new hair style. It all began with a comment from her friend at recess last September, complimenting her on her hair. “It’s so long that you could cut it for cancer,” said Victoria Altmann.
From that day onward, Avery kept her hair healthy and let it continue to grow.
On the first day of March Break, Avery’s hairdresser cut 12 inches from her hair which was donated to Locks of Love, a charity that supports children that have lost their hair during cancer treatment.
Although initially shocked, Avery’s hairdresser helped her through the transition. “I realized that I had done something really good, and that another little girl, who had lost all her hair because of cancer, would have a chance to walk “tall” and feel “pretty” with the help of my hair. And that made me feel beautiful,” said Avery.
