78-77 Cops and Cats win at the buzzer!
On Wednesday, April 20, Police Services and Ti-Cat players played against an HSC team comprised of our 1st Boys’ Basketball Team, Faculty and Alumni in the DeGroote Gym. Students from all four schools, donated a toonie, and packed the gym to watch a very exciting game won by the Cops and Cats at the buzzer! This fun event was in support of the McMaster Children’s Hospital and St. Joseph’s Hospital.
Bill Kelly from 900CHML was on hand to emcee the game. Hamilton Police Chief, Glenn De Caire, Ti-Cat, Marwan Hage and HSC’s own Ron Foxcroft coached the Cops and Cats team. The Cops and Cats team were also aided by their ‘secret weapons’, seven young female HSC students. Team HSC was coached by Rob Reiner and ably assisted by Brad “The Kid” Dimitroff. Head of College, Marc “Nash” Ayotte did an admirable job of running the HSC offence while PC Jack Vanderpol dominated the boards for the Cops and Cats.
Ti-Cats, Jerome Dennis, Ryan Hines, Darcy Brown and Ray Mariuz kept the crowd rocking with special handouts throughout the game. It was a great day! The real winners are of course the sick children who depend upon the wonderful services of the McMaster Children’s Hospital and St. Joseph’s Hospital.
