The Fashion District Hamilton United Show this year was a huge Success!

Lights, camera, action! HSC students thrilled audiences, this past weekend, with two sold-out spectacular runway fashion shows in support of local inner city children. The Fashion District Hamilton United show is a student-led fundraising initiative which fosters leadership, organizational and networking skills. The show featured HSC students as models previewing the hottest fashion trends for Spring/Summer 2009 and raised a combined total of $14,000.

Darrel Skidmore, CEO of Hamilton United Way and Laura Troccoli-Ormond from the Pinky Lewis Pinky Lewis Recreation Centre were on hand to accept the cheques and to convey the heartfelt thanks of the youngsters who will benefit from this donation.

The show also included local community leaders from the Hamilton Police Service, Hamilton Firefighters, Ti-cat Cheerleaders, McMaster Marauder athletic teams and the Sparks Inner City Rep Basketball Team coached by our very own Kristy Paone, Melissa Mancini and mentored by Marie Foxcroft.

This year the funds raised will help support the Cathy Weaver Hub Foundation and the United Way. The Wever Hub Foundation in Hamilton provides inner city youth with free after-school programs, nutrition, academic support, and a loving environment.

Congratulations to the organizing committee on a job well done! Their efforts helped to enhance the feeling of community and unity in Hamilton making this city a better place to live.
