HSC Senior students work to support the Colin B. Glassco Charitable Foundation

The Colin B. Glassco Charitable Foundation for Children founded by Alumnus Colin B. Glassco (Class of ’61) funds philanthropic projects throughout the country of Zambia. In the process of building wells, schools, orphanages, and medical clinics the Foundation has provided safe, progressive, and sustainable living conditions for thousands of Zambians. The Foundation is particularly unique because 100% of any donation goes directly to the people, with no administrative dividend.
The HSC Senior School fundraising group has raised funds for the construction of a well, and has provided school supplies for the schools throughout the Gwembe Valley. Our largest initiative to date has been to fund breakfast every day for the 118 orphans living at the Chishawasha orphanage. We need your support to achieve our goal again!
This year, the students started off the year by hosting a very successful “retro-rave” dance and dress-down day for the Senior School. They are continuing their fundraising efforts for the orphans in the Gwembe Valley by placing a donation box in the Main Office. Any donations would be greatly appreciated.
Their newest effort that is currently underway is the introduction of a breakfast sponsorship program called “Hands to Hands”. For only $60.00 you can provide breakfast for a child at the orphanage for the rest of this year. Along with the knowledge that you are providing food for an underprivileged child, you will also receive a package detailing the name and age of the child you are sponsoring. Your name will be placed on the sponsorship board beside the name of the child you are sponsoring in recognition and appreciation for the donation.
We hope that you will help us achieve our goal of providing breakfast to all of the children at the orphanage! For more information about this project or to donate, please contact Melissa Mancini at melissa.mancini@hsc.on.ca.
