ISEF - Los Angeles

HSC students, Janelle van Leeuwen and Yiquan Lok were both part of the 28 team members that represented Canada at the INTEL 2011 International Science and Engineering Fair held recently in Los Angeles, California. On Wednesday, team members made 10 minute project presentations, an average of eleven each, and answered challenging questions posed by the judging panel.

On Thursday, the fair held a public viewing for students from schools in the LA area. In the evening there was a special awards ceremony with excellent results for the Canadian team. Janelle van Leeuwen won the Patent and Trademark Office Society Award for outstanding originality, analysis and clarity in Science and Technology. On Friday morning the team attended the Grand Awards Ceremony and again Canada did extremely well.

It was a once in a lifetime experience that the students will never forget!
