One School, One Book

This year the Junior School launched their first annual One School, One Book family reading event. This program was started in the United States and was based on the One City, One Book model. Our participation in this initiative was to encourage families to read together.
This year we selected a classic novel, Cricket in Times Square, by George Selden. At the launch families were invited to come in their pyjamas for the introduction of the program and to begin to read the novel. All families and Junior School staff members received a copy of the book and a schedule to follow at home.
Families were invited also to explore our fun webquest. Teachers supported the daily reading by asking their students trivia questions at school. The novels were returned to school upon completion and will be donated to a local school in need. This event garnered lots of positive feedback from our HSC families and staff. We are excited to continue reading together.
Next year, we are keeping the novel top secret until the launch. Stay tuned for clues along the way...
We can’t wait to send you on another reading adventure!
