In a recent conversation with a graduate, I asked her what distinguished the HSC program from other programs with which she was familiar. Her response was spontaneous and uncomplicated. HSC provided her with opportunities for learning and life that she knows she would not have had or accessed otherwise. The breadth of the courses, the caring and excellence of the faculty and the motivation to achieve personal growth and success all made a difference for her. She was a member of a learning community that stretched her academically and socially. This student's perspective certainly supports our premise that if you offer your children the world, we'll help them find their place in it.
Students from JK/Montessori 3's to Grade 12 learn in a resource-rich and small class environment. They are encouraged to seek academic challenges, to strive to reach their potential and to take risks in their learning. Our expectations that students will learn how to learn and will apply their knowledge in new situations move them beyond simply acquiring information. By developing their own skills and collaborating with others, students build personal qualities of confidence and compassion that will last them a life-time. Students find that doing well at school can be fun and even cool, especially when they are working with friends who have similar goals and aspirations.
