The Library provides age appropriate materials, both in print and non-print formats, to all of our students. The Library program provides students with support for leisure and directed reading as well as introducing and developing research skills integrated with their classroom experience.
Three librarians, Mrs. Ford, Mrs. Watson, and Ms. Wilson are responsible for developing and delivering programming in the areas of reading and research skill development, while the Library technician, Mrs. Campbell, provides technical support in the preparation of the materials available in the collection and Library database.
The extensive print and non-print collection is accessed through an online browser. Networked library computers enable students to access CD-ROM, Internet, and other computer based programs. The facility is organized into two areas (elementary and senior) and has separate collection and work areas to accommodate class use.
For members of the HSC community, additional information is also posted regularly to the "Library News" folder under Senior/Middle Students on FirstClass. This area alerts students to new resources and lists guides for online searching and bibliographic referencing that can be accessed at any time, including from home over the Internet. |
