The aim of any educational institution is to develop knowledge, provide opportunities for skill development and reinforce the positive attitudes of our students, so they will be able to make educated choices, become self-confident and self-assured, embrace goal setting and make informed decisions which will in turn improve their own lives and the lives of those in their community.
Research shows that when Outdoor Education is integrated into a curriculum, it provides solid reinforcement of concepts as well as an opportunity to explore these concepts in the “real world”.
At HSC, we support this aim and are providing more and more opportunities for the students, staff and community to take part in developing a richer and greater appreciation for our world. We also believe that this “value added” programming helps to deliver the curriculum in a meaningful and exciting manner, while ensuring students are able to take controlled risks in a safe and nurturing environment.
