As the President of the HSC Parents’ Guild I have the pleasure of introducing myself to you. My name is Kim Jeejeebhoy and I have three children at the College. It has been a privilege to meet so many of the families at HSC over the years, and I know there are still many more to meet. The HSC Parents’ Guild’s mission is to “bring parents together, to host community events which promote fun, to create friendships and ultimately to raise funds.” What better place than HSC to connect and collaborate with great people?

I have enjoyed working with many talented, resourceful parents of students and graduates who come together to make all the wonderful events that the Parents’ Guild host a huge success. The Guild would like to continue to bring these wonderful events to the College for all to enjoy. We have, however, experienced a declining membership over the last few years.

Historically HSC has been blessed with a vibrant and talented parent community. Pressures today make volunteering difficult for some schedules. I agree that this may make things more challenging, but the satisfaction one gets from seeing all the happy faces at any of our events makes up for any inconvenience. This year we have created a new volunteer sheet, included in the August mailing, which outlines the many opportunities to help, without having to compromise your work or at-home schedules. Please consider your talents and let us know what areas interest you so that we can all have the best experience at HSC. We will work with you to find the right niche for you to lend a hand.

Each year the Parents’ Guild works hard to raise funds which go to supporting the College in various ways. Annually, the Guild reviews a list of required items and allocates the funds we raise College-wide so that each age and curriculum is considered. This year we are holding many events that you have come to look forward to, as well as the long-awaited The Manhattan Club Gala on April 28, 2012! We have already started planning for this wonderful event and, as you can imagine, many people will be required in order to ensure that this Gala is like no other! We want to celebrate our brand new state-of- the-art facility and ensure that we have all the items needed to “Move Us In”.

I am excited to start this new school year and even more excited to work with everyone who is able to be involved!
