Morgan Family Scholarship

What is the HSC Morgan Family Scholarship?

This incredible opportunity offers one deserving student a full-ride scholarship for Grades 9-12, covering all expenses—from tuition and uniforms to co-curricular activities and school trips—for four years.

Who Should Apply?

Students coming into Grade 9 with strong academic and leadership skills, but whose family would otherwise not be able to afford an HSC education.

How Do I Apply?

Contact our admission office at admissions@hsc.on.ca, or call us at 905-389-1367.

Apply to HSC

You will need to take a picture and upload;
  • June Report card Grade 5
  • June Report card Grade 6
  • June Report card Grade 7
  • Three examples of work you are proud to share (do not make original work; anything you have in your backpack or computer will do.  One piece should include a writing sample such as an essay, poem, notes from a science experiment etc.)
  • Proof of birth (picture of passport or birth certificate)
Morgan Scholarship candidates are given a WAIVE code for our application fee: please reach out to admissions@hsc.on.ca to receive this prior to submitting your application.

As part of your application, we require your family to complete a financial aid application form assessed by our third-party independent firm, Apple Financial Services (AFS). Their recommendation is important in ensuring we have the right candidate for this award.

Once both applications are received, we will ask the candidate to visit HSC to ensure this is where they would like to be for their four years of High School.  A decision typically follows from our donor by May 1 annually.

Q&A

Our goal is to welcome a student who demonstrates:

  1. Academic Prowess: A student who will embrace the challenge of our academic rigour and thrive in a high-demand environment.
  2. Community Engagement: A keen interest in the full life of the College, taking advantage of our 100+ co-curricular opportunities and flourishing as an engaged community member.
  3. Significant Financial Need: The candidate’s family must demonstrate clear financial need that meets the donor’s bursary expectations.

Our recipients have shared that they felt welcomed, and overall thankful for the opportunity to study at HSC. Like in any new school, they had to get involved to feel a part of the community, and make personal connections with students with similar interests. They felt supported by both faculty and staff every step of the way. Each has shared that they had to study hard, as they found the workload and content more challenging then their current schools. They also have enjoyed all of the affinity groups and activities that they get to choose to participate in.

Our first Morgan Scholar graduated in June 2022. We have had a successful graduate annually ever since!

Our scholars share that HSC is in general more challenging to them than their past school experiences, however they were selected because they were good students, and good school work habits will translate into academic success here. There are lots of people waiting to help, you just have to walk through their door.

HSC has many school buses and looks to find a safe pick up and drop off near your home. If our bus does not meet that need the scholarship will provide for a public transportation pass.

Yes, everyone at HSC wears uniform. There is actually lots of choice in uniform offerings, and all of your uniform needs are paid for as part of the scholarship.

During the third week of school each year, HSC hosts “E-week”.  This experiential learning week offers a number of mandatory and optional trip choices.  The Morgan Scholars’ trip fees are included as part of their scholarship. Past recipients have chosen experiences in London, England, Iceland, and New York City.

The Admissions office is in touch with all of the candidates bringing them through the scholarship process, it is the donor who makes the final decision in the spring.
