  • Communications Assistant - Paid Internship

    About Hillfield Strathallan College

    Hillfield Strathallan College has an exciting opportunity for a Communications Student. We are offering a paid internship starting June 17, 2024 to August 23, 2024.

    Position Overview 

    Reporting to the Manager of Communications, the Communications Intern, Design & Digital Media portfolio is responsible for digital media including photography and videography, graphic design and the HSC website for various multimedia channels in support of the College’s mission.

    Responsibilities

    Videography & Photography:
    • Filming and editing videos.
    • Capturing and editing photos.
    • Cutting and editing engaging micro-segments for social media platforms.
    • Ensuring all videos are AODA compliant and utilize closed-captioning software.

    Website & Graphic Design:
    • Works closely and collaboratively with Advancement & Communications, as well as the Admissions team, with asset support and website updates.
    • Maintains brand consistency and AODA compliance.
    • Develops digital adaptations of print publications for posting online.
    • Maintains resource boards and groups on the College intranet (myHSC)
    • Assists with the creation of forms, templates, logos, ads, business cards, brochures, displays, signage, and various other materials for web production.
    • Produces design for various printed/digital items: posters, banners, and any other materials to increase the College’s profile and promote College activities.
    • Creates and designs invitations, media screens, signage etc.

    Other:
    • Scans archival materials, as needed, to convert to digital format
    • Assists Communications team with social media; capturing photos, creating content, scheduling and posting
    • Supports Advancement team at College events
    • Supports auxiliary services such as rentals and camps
    • Discretion in the use of information is required


    Qualifications:
    • Currently enrolled in, or completion of, a three-year Diploma or Degree in Digital Media, Social Media, Digital Photography and Videography, Interactive Media, Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Broadcasting or relevant field;
    • Evidence of prior experience in producing engaging digital content;
    • Highly creative with the ability to take current trends in digital marketing and apply them to the goal of student recruitment and brand awareness;
    • Experience with Adobe software (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, iMovie) or other industry-standard software to create compelling graphics, photos, videos (including animation) and other digital materials as assigned;
    • Prior experience working with Google Suite is considered an asset;
    • Strong knowledge of social media applications;
    • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written;
    • Strong organizational skills to help with digital asset management, including systematized tagging and ordering functionality;
    • Attention to detail;
    • Ability to manage multiple projects through all stages of production;
    • Ability to work within a team environment and manage multiple stakeholder groups;
    • Prior experience working within an educational (school) setting within the independent school market is considered an asset.

    Hourly rate: $20.13/hour

  • School Bus Drivers (full-time)

    Full-time runs available due to retirement.

    Position Overview:

    We are currently recruiting for bus drivers in our transportation department. It is an hourly position with a five-hour daily average. Charter work is also available. Uniforms will be provided.

    Drivers earn $22.95 per hour. Benefits provided after three month probation.

    Qualifications:

    The successful candidate should have:
    • “B” license and recent abstract;
    • Have at least three years of driving experience;
    • Hold a valid (non-probationary) driver’s license and a very good driving record;
    • Be dependable, caring and committed to safety;
    • Ability to pass a Criminal Background Check and Vulnerable Sector Screening.

  • Senior School Administrator

    Senior School Administrator

    Position Overview: 

    The senior school administrator will support the principal, vice principals, staff, and students in the effective and efficient operation of the school.
    Responsibilities: 
    • Responsible for receptionist duties for the Senior School 
    • Responsible for attendance at the senior school, including school life events. 
    • Support for E-Week: responding to emails for the Chair of Experiential Learning
    • Responsible for exam collection and storage of senior school examinations. 
    • Assists and supports with the organizing/coordinating of Senior School events
    • Responsible for the distribution and mailing of Senior School Reports
    • Manages Transcript requests
    • Orders OSSGD certificates from the Ministry
    • Produces HSC Diplomas and sends them for printing to the Campus store
    • Compiles list of grads for the composite
    • Prints Diplomas and Ontario Scholar Certificates  for graduates and put together in a presentation folder
    • Tracks/issues Ontario Education Numbers for new students
    • Picks up and distributes senior school mail daily
    • Assists on a needed basis with the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test 
    • Uses an online booking system to book rooms (meetings, refreshments, trips)
    • Provides administrative and clerical assistance to the Senior School on an ongoing basis; duties include typing correspondence, updating forms, and creating templates. 
    • Responsible for records management of OSR in the Senior School 
    • Provides updates on myHSC
    • Ensures calendars are up to date and conducts an Audit of myHSC to ensure information is updated on the Senior School pages.
    • Acts as backup to the Student Success Officer for urgent requests or to cover vacations/absences

    Qualifications:
    • College diploma 
    • Minimum 3 years experience providing office support in an educational setting

  • Supply Early Childhood Educators 

    Position Overview: 
     
    The Supply Early Childhood Educator will be available for daily and long term assignments. They will collaborate with classroom teachers and assist in delivering a program that enhances children’s cognitive, physical, social, spiritual and emotional development.

    Qualifications:
    • 2 year community college Early Childhood Education Diploma with experience in a childcare or educational setting;
    • Member in Good Standing with the Ontario College of Early Childhood Educators;
    • Knowledge of Ministry of Education full day early learning kindergarten program;
    • Experience in planning and implementing age appropriate programs;
    • Knowledge of related legislation and pertinent Board policies and directives such as, but not limited to Administration of Medication and/or Special Services
    • Ability to communicate in a professional manner with children, parents, staff and the general public;
    • Strong organizational and management skills
    • Demonstrate knowledge of classroom management
    • One year of experience as an ECE in a childcare centre and Early Learning Program is preferred; however, new graduates are welcome to apply
    • Current certificate in First Aid and CPR

    We are currently seeking passionate and committed teachers to join our faculty.

    The successful candidates will have previous experience teaching (pre-service practicums will be considered); possess an Ontario Teachers’ Certificate or equivalency; strong communication and interpersonal skills, and a passion for education. They also are required to participate in the co-curricular life of the College, possess up-to-date skills in the area of technology, and embrace a model of student-centred learning.
