  • Communications Officer (3-month contract)

    Communication Officer
    Founded in 1901, Hillfield Strathallan College (HSC) offers a seamless academic journey from 18 months to 18 years. Located on a 50-acre campus on Hamilton's West Mountain, HSC provides a unique educational pathway for students through four school offerings: Junior, Montessori, Middle and Senior.     Position Overview:
    Reporting to the Director of Advancement and Communications, the Communications Officer will be responsible for the direction and coordination of Hillfield Strathallan College’s internal and external communications and is responsible to develop and maintain sustainable relationships with internal stakeholders and external community groups.  The position acts as a project leader for a wide range of communication projects, publications, advertising and communications initiatives, including developing and delivering Web content.  
     
    Responsibilities:
    • Provide editorial direction, manage and produce external and internal publications such as donor stewardship reports, Admissions materials, course booklets, newsletters and the Annual Report for the College.  Publications may require coordination, project management, writing, publication and mailing. 
    • Strategy development and execution of social media, blog post, press release, newsletter, email marketing, website and written print collateral content.
    • Working with the Communications Officer to design, track, monitor and analyze specific digital media campaigns and social media activities.
    • Oversee all marketing content creation, including advertising, media and digital campaigns.
    • Proofreading, writing skills and strong attention to detail is required.
    • Assist in the development and implementation of communication policies and procedures.
    • Coordinate logistics relating to media relations to increase the College’s profile and promote College activities.
    • Provide photography and videography support for various events.
    • Undertake special projects as directed such as donor recognition, wayfinding, event signage etc.
    • Other related duties as assigned.
     
    Qualifications
     
    The successful candidate should have a degree in communications, a minimum of three years of proven writing and project management experience, excellent communication, organizational and planning skills, expertise in using web-based tools and technologies (e.g., Google Analytics, email marketing software, social networking applications and media sharing sites) and website content management software, understanding of social media, blog management and related best practices, experience with Adobe Creative Suite software, particularly Photoshop and InDesign experience preferred but not required.

    School Bus Driver Position Overview:
    We are currently recruiting bus drivers in our transportation department. It is an hourly position with a five-hour daily average. Uniforms will be provided. Drivers start at $19.68 per hour and increase to $21.85 after three-month probation.
     
    Qualifications:
    The successful candidate should have:
    • “B” license and recent abstract
    • “Z” licence an asset, but not necessary for hire
    • Have at least three years of driving experience
    • Hold a valid (non-probationary) driver’s license and a very good driving record
    • Be dependable, caring and committed to safety
    • Ability to pass a Criminal Background Check and Vulnerable Sector Screening

  • Senior School Social Science Teacher

    We are currently recruiting for an LTO position in our Senior School commencing in mid-February for the remainder of Semester 2 with the potential to be extended.
     
    Senior School Social Science Teacher (Gr. 9-10)
     
    Position Overview: 
     
    Under the direction of the Principal of the Senior School, the teacher is responsible for:
    • teaching CGC1D (Gr. 9 Geography), CHV20 (Gr. 10 Civics, half-credit, online), and GLC20 (Gr. 9 Careers, half-credit, online);
    • Senior School duties;
    • contribution to the extracurricular life of the College.
     
    Qualifications
    • An undergraduate degree in Social Science, or related disciplines.
    • An Ontario Teachers’ Certificate or equivalent.
    • A minimum of two (2) years of teaching experience.
    • Experience with online teaching, Zoom and Google tools.
    • The ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
    • Strong communication skills using email, LMS and other channels.
    • Familiar with Ontario’s Growing Success approach to assessment and evaluation.

  • Supply Early Childhood Educators

    Position Overview: 
     
    The supply Early Childhood Educator will be available for daily and long-term assignments. They will collaborate with classroom teachers and assist in delivering a program that enhances children’s cognitive, physical, social, spiritual and emotional development.

    Qualifications:
     
    • Two-year community college Early Childhood Education Diploma, with experience in a childcare or educational setting;
    • Member in good standing with the Ontario College of Early Childhood Educators;
    • Knowledge of Ministry of Education full-day early learning kindergarten program;
    • Experience in planning and implementing age-appropriate programs;
    • Knowledge of related legislation and pertinent Board policies and directives such as, but not limited to Administration of Medication and/or Special Services;
    • Ability to communicate in a professional manner with children, parents, staff and the general public;
    • Strong organizational and management skills;
    • Demonstrate knowledge of classroom management;
    • One year of experience as an ECE in a childcare centre and Early Learning Program is preferred; however, new graduates are welcome to apply;
    • Current certificate in First Aid and CPR;
