  • Early Childhood Educators (Supply Positions)

    Position Overview: 
     
    The supply Early Childhood Educator will be available for daily and long term assignments. They will collaborate with classroom teachers and assist in delivering a program that enhances children’s cognitive, physical, social, spiritual and emotional development. 

    Qualifications:
    • Two year community college Early Childhood Education Diploma, with experience in a childcare or educational setting;
    • Member in good standing with the Ontario College of Early Childhood Educators;
    • Knowledge of Ministry of Education full-day early learning kindergarten program;
    • Experience in planning and implementing age-appropriate programs;
    • Knowledge of related legislation and pertinent Board policies and directives such as, but not limited to Administration of Medication and/or Special Services;
    • Ability to communicate in a professional manner with children, parents, staff and the general public;
    • Strong organizational and management skills;
    • Demonstrate knowledge of classroom management;
    • One year of experience as an ECE in a childcare centre and Early Learning Program is preferred; however, new graduates are welcome to apply;
    • Current certificate in First Aid and CPR;

  • Math and Science Teaching Assistant

    Math and Science Teaching Assistant

    Position Overview: 

    The Math and Science Teaching Assistant will support our Math and Science departments in our Senior School (Gr. 9 – 12). The successful applicant will have the opportunity to gain real school and classroom experience. The Teaching Assistant will be responsible for coaching students on a daily basis while working with and being mentored by talented educators in the Senior School.  The Teaching Assistant will be connected to the specific department and have the opportunity to provide learning support in their teaching area. They will also get the opportunity to cover classrooms and get experience in all areas of the school community.
    Main Responsibilities include:

    • Co-plan and facilitate student learning in credit courses
    • Provide enrichment and/or support for students
    • Assist teachers with building assessments and evaluating student learning
    • Explore and promote research-based best practices
    • Learn through reflective professional practices
    • Teach some classes where possible
    • Support students with post-secondary applications
    • Facilitate discipline-based study sessions in the student success centre
    • Perform assigned student supervision duties as required
    Qualifications 

    Education and Designation:

    • University degree
    • Member, or process of becoming a member of  the Ontario College of Teachers or hold a Teacher Certificate
    • Math and/or Science knowledge required
    • Proficient English skills
    • Self-starter interested in growth and professional development
    • Student-centred, collaborative, reflective and receptive practitioner

  • Middle School Visual Art Teacher

    Visual Art Teacher – Middle School, Grade 5 through 8
    (4 Month contract with possibility of extension)

    Position Overview:

    The position requires organizing and delivering the Visual Art program for Grades 6 through 8 and serving as a Grade 6 homeroom teacher in the Middle School. This includes, but is not limited to, using modern assessment techniques to evaluate student performance through formal and informal communication, employing classroom management practices, establishing and enforcing student expectations for the creation of a supportive, joyful, safe, caring and effective learning environment, attending all faculty meetings, participating in special school events, including arts-focused student enrichment activities, and actively participating in the co-curricular program at HSC. 

    Qualifications:

    The successful applicant should have a post-secondary degree and current certificate from the Ontario College of Teachers or equivalent and specialist qualifications in Visual Art. Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills, as well demonstrated proficiency in the use of technology are all necessary to be successful in this role.

  • School Bus Drivers

    Full-time runs are available due to retirement!
     
    School Bus Driver Position Overview:

    We are currently recruiting for bus drivers in our transportation department. It is an hourly position with a five hour daily average. Charter work is also available. Uniforms will be provided. Drivers earn $22.19 per hour. Benefits provided after 3 month probation.
     
    Qualifications:

    The successful candidate should have:
    • “B” license and recent abstract
    • Have at least three years of driving experience
    • Hold a valid (non-probationary) driver’s license and a very good driving record
    • Be dependable, caring and committed to safety
    • Ability to pass a Criminal Background Check and Vulnerable Sector Screening

  • Security Officer

    Security Officer Position Overview: 
     
    Reporting to the Facilities Manager, the Security Officer is responsible for the security of the College premises and equipment on a daily basis—to include special events and public rental groups scheduled through the College calendar. We are currently recruiting for a Security Officer to work shift work—scheduled days throughout the week, plus Saturday and Sundays from 3:00 p.m. until 12:00 a.m.
     
    Responsibilities:
    • Securing the premises by following established protocols and regulations of the college
    • Patrol the buildings and grounds
    • Monitor improperly parked vehicles
    • Direct traffic for College events and functions 
    • Assist with meeting/event preparation and clean up 
    • Direct all unauthorized individuals to leave the premises 
    • Respond to alarm calls and complete any necessary reports
    • Contact emergency services and liaise with Police, Fire and Medical Services as situations demand.
    Qualifications:
    • Valid Security License
    • Previous related experience
    • The ability to meet the public effectively and to exercise judgement and tact 
    • The ability to communicate effectively 
    • Must possess and maintain a clear criminal record

    The successful candidates will have previous experience teaching (pre-service practicums will be considered); possess an Ontario Teachers’ Certificate or equivalency; strong communication and interpersonal skills, and a passion for education. They also are required to participate in the co-curricular life of the College, possess up-to-date skills in the area of technology, and embrace a model of student-centred learning.
