  • Early Childhood Educators

    About Hillfield Strathallan College

    Founded in 1901, Hillfield Strathallan College (HSC) offers a seamless academic journey from 18 months to 18 years. Located on a 50-acre campus on Hamilton's West Mountain, HSC provides a unique educational pathway for students through four school offerings: Junior, Montessori, Middle and Senior.     Three positions are available to help support our Montessori Toddler and CASA rooms. One permanent and two contract positions are available. 

    Position Overview: 
    They will collaborate with classroom teachers and assist in delivering a program that enhances children’s cognitive, physical, social, spiritual and emotional development.

    Qualifications:
    • Two-year community college Early Childhood Education Diploma, with experience in a childcare or educational setting; experience with Montessori an asset 
    • Member in good standing with the Ontario College of Early Childhood Educators;
    • Experience in planning and implementing age-appropriate programs;
    • Knowledge of related legislation and pertinent Board policies and directives such as, but not limited to Administration of Medication and/or Special Services;
    • Ability to communicate in a professional manner with children, parents, staff and the general public;
    • Strong organizational and management skills;
    • Demonstrate knowledge of classroom management;
    • One year of experience as an ECE in a childcare centre and Early Learning Program is preferred; however, new graduates are welcome to apply;
    • Current certificate in Standard First Aid and CPR.

    Full-time runs are available!

    School Bus Driver Position Overview:

    We are currently recruiting bus drivers in our transportation department. It is an hourly position with a 5-hour daily average. Charter work is also available. Uniforms will be provided. Drivers start at $19.68 per hour and increase to $21.85 after 3 months of probation.
     
    Qualifications:

    The successful candidate should have:
    • “B” license and recent abstract
    • Have at least three years of driving experience
    • Hold a valid (non-probationary) driver’s license and a very good driving record
    • Be dependable, caring and committed to safety
    • Ability to pass a Criminal Background Check and Vulnerable Sector Screening

  • Senior School Math Teachers

  • Digital Media Officer

    Position Overview:

    The Digital Media Officer will work within the Advancement and Communications team under the day-to-day supervision of the Manager of Communications and has responsibility for videography, photography, graphic design and the HSC website for various multimedia channels and digital publications. The position works in a collaborative way with all members of the College to ensure content is generated accurately to reflect the College’s priorities, brand, recruitment and advancement targets. 


    Responsibilities:

    Photography 
    • Coordinate with all four schools and the Advancement and Communications departments to identify photography needs.
    • Act as the ‘official’ College Photographer for all school events, or arrange cover for and oversee the work of other contract photographers, and as such, manage the School’s photography schedule effectively to ensure key on and off-campus events are captured throughout the school year. 
    • Coordinate photoshoot schedules and supervise outsourced photography.
    • Understand proper camera techniques for capturing sharp images, i.e., adjusting apertures, shutter speeds, and camera focus based on a combination of factors such as lighting, field depth, subject motion, and ISO; create artificial light using flashes and reflectors. 
    • Format and upload appropriate photo galleries to the online Zenfolio website for the College community. 
    • Give technical support for selling photographs (Zenfolio) to parents and students, and ensure that the photographs are successfully delivered to parents and clients.
    • Proficiency in Photoshop to manipulate areas of the photos, i.e., adding people into existing photos, creating poster designs for school musicals etc.
    • Scan archival materials, as needed, to convert to digital format. 
    • Capture photos and videos for use on social media within a tight turnaround time.

    Videography
    • Coordinate video shoot schedules and supervise outsourced videos.
    • Film and editing videos for the College.
    • Cut and edit micro-segments for social media platforms to engage, grow and promote the College.
    • You have solid prior experience as a video editor and/or videographer.
    • Coordinate videos to have closed-captioning (using Rev).
    • Upload and organize videos to the College site (Vimeo).

    Website
    • Maintain brand consistency and AODA compliance.
    • Maintain resource boards and groups on the College intranet (myHSC)
    • Work closely and collaboratively with the Advancement, Communications and Admissions teams to support website updates and changes for the College. 
    • Develop digital adaptations of print publications for posting online.

    Graphic Design
    • Assists with the creation of forms, templates, logos, ads, business cards, brochures, displays, signage, and various other materials for web production.
    • Coordinate logistics relating to print requirements, posters, banners, and any other materials to increase the College’s profile and promote College activities.
    • Responsible for creating and designing invitations, media screens, signage etc.

    Qualifications 
    • Three-year Diploma or Degree in Digital Media, Social Media, Digital Photography and Videography, Interactive Media, Marketing, Broadcasting or relevant field;
    • Minimum of three years of experience producing engaging digital content;
    • Highly creative with the ability to take current trends in digital marketing and apply them to the goal of student recruitment;
    • Be able to use the latest Adobe software (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, iMovie) or other industry-standard software to create compelling graphics, photos, videos (including animation) and other digital materials as assigned;
    • Be able to mediate multiple photography/videography shoots;
    • Strong technical knowledge of web design and development, including HTML, and platforms such as Blackbaud;
    • Organized to implement all digital materials into an asset management system, including systematized tagging and ordering functionality.
    • Strong knowledge of social media applications, notably Hootsuite;
    • Strong communications skills, both verbal and written;
    • Strong organizational skills to help with digital asset management and the ability to manage multiple projects;
    • Ability to work within a team environment and manage multiple stakeholder groups;
    • Ability to manage projects through all stages of production.

    This is a one-year part-time position teaching two sections of Mandarin including Advanced Placement.  

    The successful candidate will have a minimum of three years of experience teaching at the Senior Education level; possess an Ontario Teaching Certificate or equivalency; strong communication and interpersonal skills and a passion for education. They should also possess up-to-date skills in the area of technology, and embrace a model of student-centred learning.

  • Social Science and English Teaching Assistant

    Social Science and English Teaching Assistant
     
    The successful applicant will have the opportunity to gain real school and classroom experience. The teaching assistants will be responsible for coaching students on a daily basis while working with and being mentored by talented educators in the Senior School.  The Teaching Assistants will be connected to the specific department, and have the opportunity to provide learning support in their teaching area. They will also get the opportunity to cover classrooms and get experience in all areas of the school community.
     
    Main Responsibilities include:
    • Co-plan and facilitate student learning in credit courses
    • Provide enrichment and/or support for students
    • Assist teachers with building assessments and evaluating student learning
    • Explore and promote research-based best practice
    • Learn through reflective professional practices
    • Facilitate discipline-based study sessions in the student success centre
    • Perform assigned student supervision duties as required
    • Salary: $36,000 for the first year and $40,000 for the second year
