  • Early Childhood Educator - Casual Appointment

    Under the Direction of the Principal, the early childhood educator will partner with the Lead Teacher to plan and implement a full-day learning program within a Toddler or Preschool classroom setting.

    Responsibilities include; providing a happy, safe and stimulating environment, instilling a love of learning, ensuring positive and professional communications with faculty, staff and families, and taking a proactive approach to health and safety.

    All of the successful applicants should have Early Childhood Education Diploma, ideally with experience working with Toddlers, and preschool aged children, excellent written and verbal communications, knowledge of the Childcare and Early Years Act, valid First Aid/CPR and immunization records.

  • Cleaning Supervisor

    Due to retirements we are currently recruiting for the following position:

    Cleaning Supervisor

    The Cleaning Supervisor is responsible for the general overall cleanliness of the College; cleans specific area of the College as well as supervises the work of the day and evening cleaners and evening security.
    This position will work 4:00 p.m. – 12:00 p.m. on school days with flexibility on hours during the breaks (Summer/March Break).

    Responsibilities Include:

    • Visits all buildings of the College each working period to ensure that cleaning staff are properly carrying out their duties
    • Gives general guidance when necessary to cleaning and security staff
    • Organizes the duties of cleaning staff and their work schedules to achieve best possible desired results
    • Schedules appropriate staffing levels to ensure coverage of weekend rental and college events
    • Re-organizes duties of cleaning staff to address absenteeism, or unusual situations
    • Recommends individuals for employment or discipline
    • Works with human resources to arrange for casual staff
    • Completes inventory of the cleaning supplies, orders as necessary and ensures Manager is aware of requirements
    • Completes time report sheets for cleaners
    • Ensures all staff are properly trained and are following any health and safety requirements
    • Cleans all areas of Holton Building and assists other cleaning staff as required
    • From time to time employees may be required to carry out duties not necessarily in their job description but dictated by circumstance
    The successful candidate will have previous experience supervising and working in a cleaning function, knowledge of cleaning equipment, inventory tracking, good customer service and common sense in routine daily work. He or she should have knowledge of the health and safety act and WHMIS, as well as experience with using computers in their day to day work.

  • Manager of Food Services

    Due to retirements we are currently recruiting for the following position:

    Manager of Food Services

    The position is responsible for the food services operations at the College, including but not limited to the operation of kitchen and dining hall in providing approximately 1,400 daily meals for the community. The Manager is also responsible for the oversight of all kitchen staff, catering services, school specific snack programs, special events, sports fixtures, and other food service requirements.
    The position works 5:45 a.m. until 2:15 p.m. on school days with some additional days prior to school start up and school finishing.

    Responsibilities Include:

    • Orders all food, supplies and equipment related to the food services program
    • Meets with vendor sales reps and consultants in best product and price search
    • Manages, creates and maintains daily weekly, monthly menu plans and offerings
    • Develops and maintains communications and systems in support of food services, i.e. allergy, food labels, website communications
    • Keeps communication systems up to date and accurate on all menu options
    • Manages all food allergy and dietary programs throughout the College
    • Schedule staff hours and duties
    • Manages preparation and delivery for food weekly menus and food for special events
    • Manages receiving process (to included unloading and unpacking) for incoming orders of food and supplies
    • Prepares and/or reviews inventory for month end and related budget reports
    • Oversees all food preparation, serving, clean up and health & safety programs
    • Manages and actively maintains service requirements and maintenance of kitchen appliances and equipment
    • Supervises schedules of all kitchen staff
    • Works in collaboration with Human Resources on hiring all kitchen staff
    • Completes and updates recipe cards and cooking instructions for daily menu offerings
    • Coordinates creation and implementation and menu options to include recipe cards including instructions for preparation in keeping with Canadian nutritional guidelines and standards
    • Ensures necessary Ministry documentation, quality controls (cooking time/temperature, fridge temperatures)
    • Manages food usage consumption and waste tracking
    • Maintains, evaluates and assists with the preparation of monthly and annual variance analysis, budgets and forecasts
    • Actively engages in preparation and cooking as required
    • Works outside of normal working hours as required for special events
    The successful candidate will be certified as a Red seal chef or equivalent cooking designation, is well versed in nutrition and Canada’s food guide related to children and adults, have a minimum of 5 years working experience as a lead cook in a large scale kitchen, previous supervisory experience, budgeting experience and strong knowledge of health and safety in a kitchen environment.

  • Marketing & Communications Officer

    Summary of Functions:

    The position is responsible for the direction and coordination of Hillfield Strathallan College’s internal and external communications and is responsible to develop and maintain sustainable relationships with internal stakeholders and external community groups. The position acts as a project leader for a wide range of communication projects, publications, advertising and communications initiatives, including developing and delivering web content.

    Duties:
    • Provide editorial direction, manage and produce external and internal publications such as donor stewardship reports, admissions materials, course booklets, newsletters and the Annual Report for the College. Publications may require coordination, project management, writing, publication and mailing.
    • Strategy development and execution of social media, blog post, press release, newsletter, email marketing, website, and written print collateral content.
    • Working with the Communications Officer to design, track, monitor and analyse specific digital media campaigns and social media activities.
    • Oversee all marketing content creation, including advertising, media and digital campaigns.
    • Proof reading, writing skills and strong attention to detail is required.
    • Assist in the development and implementation of communication policies and procedures.
    • Coordinate logistics relating to media relations to increase the College’s profile and promote College activities.
    • Provide photography and videography support for various events
    • Undertake special projects as directed such as donor recognition, way finding, event signage etc..
    • Other related duties as assigned
    The successful candidate should have a degree in communications, a minimum of three years proven writing and project management experience, excellent communication, organizational and planning skills, expertise in using web-based tools and technologies (e.g., Google Analytics, e-mail marketing software, social networking applications and media sharing sites) and website content management software, understanding of social media, blog management, and related best practices, experience with Adobe Creative Suite software, particularly Photoshop and InDesign experience preferred but not required.
