About Hillfield Strathallan College
Founded in 1901, Hillfield Strathallan College (HSC) offers a seamless academic journey from 18 months to 18 years. Located on a 50-acre campus on Hamilton's West Mountain, HSC provides a unique educational pathway for students through four school offerings: Junior, Montessori, Middle and Senior. Manager, Auxiliary Services:
Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Manager of Auxiliary Services will champion the vision and leadership required to build a robust ancillary services presence at Hillfield Strathallan College (HSC). The Manager will collaborate with all College departments to lead the growth and expansion of net revenue-neutral and revenue-generating non curricular services, transactions, support services and programs to further enhance the College.
Duties:
The position is responsible for the following areas:
Overseeing the rental of campus facilities throughout the year;
Securing and attracting external conferences and event coordination;
Facilitating Summer and March Break Camp programming; and
Managing campus store and retail operations.
The position will:
Develop annual forecast plans and goals for ancillary services at the College including development and tracking of metrics for the various areas that generate revenue while remaining cognizant of the guidelines established by the Canada Revenue Agency on the definition of related business and subordination in relation to registered charities;
Collaborate with the Director of Finance to assist in the development of operating budget plans, operational policies and procedures related to the above services and to establish and implement best practices and ideas for other revenue generating opportunities;
Manage and create standard rental agreements and facility contracts including ongoing determination and review of rental rate cards for various facilities available for rental on the campus;
Interpret operational requirements and provide effective communications to the users and potential users of the above services;
Partner with the College’s Communications and Marketing team to determine effective strategies to promote ancillary services on our campus regarding both revenue generating and non-revenue generating opportunities;
Work with the Director of Finance to determine strategies that will effectively promote, generate and market event management and other services in alignment with the overall College mission, vision and strategic goals;
Promote the College as an attractive, popular local destination showcasing the excellence of the College through planning, marketing, strategic analysis and negotiation skills;
Advise potential users on facility capabilities, required permits, insurance requirements, policies and procedures, and determine event costs and final payment terms;
Act as an expert and creative events resource for the College community, ensuring the highest quality events, consistent with the standard of HSC;
Deliver a seamless one-stop-shop event management process for all external rentals, events and conferences;
Analyze event performance, obtain feedback from user groups, and prepare metrics to drive change and sustain improved practices;
Assist in developing relationships and partnerships with generation of ancillary services;
Work in collaboration with the College’s Risk Managers to review and ensure that a centralized risk management plan is in place for all the above services;
Work collaboratively with operational leads to ensure smooth execution of services; and
Provide training, direction and support to staff ensuring goals, objectives, and expectations are communicated and completed.
The successful candidate will have a post-secondary degree in a related field as well as a minimum of five years of broad experience in ancillary service and retail operations including recreational facilities with proven experience leading a team. They should also possess excellent communication and collaboration skills along with a strong entrepreneurial spirit, professionalism, energy, passion and the commitment necessary to achieve the responsibilities of this position.
