Welcome from the Parents' Guild
"On behalf of the Parents’ Guild (PG), I would like to welcome you to another year at HSC. My name is Sadia Ansari, and I am honoured to be the PG Chair for the 2023-2024 school year.
I have three kids, with the two younger ones still in HSC while the oldest graduated this year and is now starting university. I have been volunteering since my kids started attending the College and have learned immensely from attending monthly meetings as well as lending a hand at every opportunity. This has helped me grow as a person while giving me the opportunity to make amazing new friends.
Traditionally, the PG’s role at the College is to plan and host events to build school spirit while also raising funds that directly impact our children’s educational experience. Towards this goal, we host a multitude of community-building events, including used uniform sales, Monster Mash or Winterfest, and the Staff Appreciation Breakfast. We continually strive to support the College and find opportunities to gather and enjoy time together. Being in the PG is a truly rewarding experience, and I would encourage anyone to join us.
As a family at HSC, you are automatically a part of the PG, and you are always welcome to reach out to us for support. We have parents across all four schools who can help answer your questions or direct you to someone at the College who can. For those with time to spare, we are always looking for volunteers. Any contribution of time is valued and appreciated. Please contact us at pg@hsc.on.ca.

Welcome from HSC’s Enrolment and Reception Team!
We are so glad to welcome you to our community. As you prepare to join the HSC family, we want to make sure you have all of the timely information you need to feel right at home. Our enrolment team is always available to answer your questions at admissions@hsc.on.ca. School principals and leadership will communicate soon with important updates to support your child’s transition into academic life and solidify your parent partnership. Below, you will find important school life information topics and links that current parents have shared are essential to onboarding into daily life at HSC.
Key Dates for New Families
On Wednesday, August 28 join the Head of College and HSC's Principals for our New Parent Mix and Mingle from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Representatives from across the College will be available to answer any questions you may have. Click here to register.
HSC also offers an orientation for all new students in September, including current HSC students entering Grades 5 (first-year Middle School) and 9 (first-year Senior School). Students joining us mid-year will receive a personalized orientation plan to ensure you and your child feel confident in school routines and expectations.

E-WEEK
The experiential week (E-week) is an outbound, off-campus learning opportunity for students from Grades 4 to Grade 12. E-week takes place in mid-September annually. As a new family, you will receive communications about your child’s e-week opportunities. If your child is entering the Senior School, you may receive important information regarding trip selections and deposits prior to starting school in September you won’t want to miss! The cost of these excursions are not included in tuition.

HEALTH & BIOGRAPHIC UPDATES
HSC is proud to have a full Health Services team to meet student needs proactively and responsively. Our team includes two full-time registered nurses, our College Counsellor, a Registered Social Worker, the Montessori Matron and an Athletic Therapist.
At HSC, parents are responsible for updating health information on an ongoing basis for each child. This is done through the myHSC portal. As a new family, your homework assignment is to watch our how-to tutorial on health updates (see below) and complete this information upload at your earliest availability.
Biographic updates, including address changes, email, phone or family status changes can be updated by emailing the registrar@hsc.on.ca.
TECHNOLOGY AND COMMUNICATIONS
The IT Services Team is located in the Lower Strathallan Building and can be reached at itservicerequest@hsc.on.ca. This team supports our community with everything from recommendations on buying the right laptop to cyber safety and security. This team comprises experts on myHSC (our College-wide Learning Management System), an essential tool to daily life at HSC. Below are some important links to commonly asked-for references and questions about myHSC. This is your homework, new parents!
UNIFORMS AND CAMPUS STORE
The HSC Campus Store is located in the Lower Strathallan Building. The team can be reached at campusstore@hsc.on.ca. Our staff will support families with the purchase of uniforms, textbooks, athletic wear and other school-related sundry items. New families are invited to make a summer appointment for first-time uniform and textbook purchases.

TRANSPORTATION
The HSC Transportation team is located in the Transportation Building outside of the main school facility. This team supports all of our routing, special trips and co-curricular excursions. Look for your personal transportation email each August when routes are shared via a myHSC link. For families requiring more than one drop-off location, please complete the transportation form linked below.

SCHOLARSHIPS
HSC and its donors are pleased to offer a range of merit-based scholarships worth more than $250,000 annually as part of efforts to encourage excellence in academics and foster an inclusive learning environment. New students coming into Grades 5 through 12 will want to review opportunities and prepare to complete the scholarship and submissions (due in January) each year. Students must have received an offer of enrolment to be eligible to compete for scholarships.
FINANCE
The HSC Finance Office is located in the Upper Strathallan Building. This team can be contacted at finance@hsc.on.ca, and supports families with tuition payments, fee schedules, ongoing enrolment deposits, and financial aid requests. The Advancement team provides opportunities for students, parents, alumni and employees of HSC to connect with one another and be engaged in the life of the College.

As an independent school and a non-profit organization, we rely on our community of loyal donors. HSC does not receive government funding for operations or capital projects, and our community keeps the educational experience at a standard of excellence.
